Tour prices quoted
include: Accommodations on board 'Explorer' in the category of cabin
chosen and hotel accommodations as noted in individual itineraries; full
board on 'Explorer' and all bar drinks and house wines while on the ship
(except Lost Islands); sightseeing as noted in itinerary and shore
excursions; services of on-board lecturers; group transfers for passengers
arriving and departing the same day as group flights (except Vintage Ports);
hotel taxes; entrance fees; gratuities for all shipboard personnel. |
Special Amenities
Package Tour prices include guidebook (except Lost Islands and Vintage
Ports), reading list, flight bag, backpack (except Vintage Ports),
documentation wallet and parka (Antarctica, Lost Islands, and certain North
Atlantic departures only). |
Baggage Tour
prices include handling of baggage between airport, ship and hotel. Baggage
and personal effects are at the owner's risk throughout the tour. A&K' s
Passenger Travel Protection Program, which provides protection against lost
or damaged luggage, is strongly recommended.
Not included in quoted tour prices:
Air transportation; airport departure tax; port charges; excess baggage
charges; cost of obtaining passports or visas; optional excursions;
gratuities to local guides; premium wines and champagnes; travel insurance;
transfers for passengers arriving and departing independently; all items of
a personal nature. |
Registration
For all programs, your reservation must be accompanied by a deposit of 30%
of the tour price at the time of booking. Final payment is due 90 days prior
to departure. A "late booking fee" will apply to bookings made within 30
days of departure.
Please note: Some departures may
require a minimum number of participants to operate. |
Cancellations and
Refunds Cancellations will be subject to the following charges: 120 days
or more prior to departure, $100 per person handling fee; 119-80 days prior
to departure, 10% of the tour price; 79-60 days prior to departure, 30% of
the tour price; 59-45 days prior to departure, 75% of the tour price; 44
days or less prior to departure, 100% of the tour price. Except for
verifiable extenuating circumstances, refunds are not made for any missed
tour services. Please see "Limits of Responsibility" on this page. For
verifiable claims to be considered, they must be received within 30 days of
the termination of the tour and be accompanied by supporting documentation
and/or statement from the Tour Operating Company verifying the claim. Any
adjustment considered will be based on the actual costs of the services
involved and not on a per diem basis. Adjustments will not be made for
unused sightseeing trips or meals. A&K's Passenger Travel Protection
Program, which helps provide reimbursement in the event of unexpected
cancellation, is strongly recommended. |
Itineraries
'Explorer' programs are designed as expeditions requiring a degree of
flexibility and spontaneity. Every effort will be made to follow the
published itineraries, but please note that they are subject to change at
the discretion of A&K and 'Explorer' ship's command, based on weather, ice
and other local conditions. |
Photography On
tour, A&K reserves the right to take photographs or videos during the
operation of any tour or part thereof, and to use the resulting images for
promotional purposes. By booking a reservation with A&K, tour members agree
to allow their image to appear in such photographs; tour members who prefer
that their image not be used are asked to notify the cruise director at the
commencement of their tour. |
Air Transportation
A&K will arrange the best-priced airfare available in the class category you
request at the time of your booking. Sample air prices are shown in the A&K
printed brochure. THESE ARE SPECIAL A&K PROMOTIONAL FARES AND CANNOT BE
COMBINED WITH ANY OTHER PROMOTIONAL OFFER. Should you cancel or change your
air reservation before or after your departure, cancellation penalties may
apply. Air reservations will not be confirmed until a passport copy is
received. ALL AIRFARES AND CONDITIONS THEREOF ARE THOSE IN EFFECT AT TIME OF
PUBLICATION, AND ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE. |
Airlines concerned are not to be
held responsible for any act, omission or event during the time passengers
are not on board their planes or conveyances. These tours may use the
services of any IATA [International Air Transport Association] carrier. International air carriers are subject to
international air conventions limiting their liability; the limitations of
liability are normally contained on the reverse side of the airline ticket,
but are also prescribed by law and are your responsibility to ascertain;
these conventions and limitations of liability form part of the terms and
conditions of this package. The passage contract in use by these companies,
when issued, shall constitute the sole contract between these companies and
the purchaser of these tours and/or passage. |
Baggage
Restrictions On international flights in and out of the U.S. checked
baggage is limited to two pieces per person. For flights entirely outside
the U.S. the limit is usually 44 lbs. per person. Exceptions may apply on
more remote routings. Carry-on baggage is strictly limited, and you are
encouraged to check on such restrictions with airlines prior to departure.
A&K is not responsible for luggage
lost or damaged by airlines or independent tour operators handling your
transfer arrangements. Any articles lost or damaged must be immediately
reported to the airline or tour operator involved. |
Important Health
Information A&K expeditions are intended for persons in reasonably good
health. By forwarding the expedition deposit you certify that you do not
have any physical condition or disability that would create a hazard for you
or other passengers. A&K reserves the right to decline to accept or retain
you or any other passenger should your health, actions or general deportment
impede the operations of the expedition or the rights, welfare or enjoyment
of other passengers. |
Limits on
Abercrombie & Kent's Responsibility - Independent Suppliers -
Abercrombie & Kent International, Inc., is an Illinois corporation based in
Oak Brook, Illinois. It purchases transportation, hotel accommodations,
restaurant and other services from various independent suppliers (including,
but not limited to, other Abercrombie & Kent companies) that are not subject
to its control. ABERCROMBIE & KENT INTERNATIONAL, INC., CANNOT, THEREFORE,
BE LIABLE FOR DEATH, PERSONAL INJURY OR ANY OTHER LOSS that may occur (1)
due to any act or omission of any such supplier, (2) by reason of any other
event over which it has no control. |
Payment of the tour cost
constitutes your acceptance of the Terms and Conditions set out herein and
in more specific pre-tour passenger documentation, including the Reservation
Confirmation Form. |
ABERCROMBIE & KENT INTERNATIONAL,
INC., reserves the right to adjust U.S. Dollar prices, without notice, to
reflect fluctuations in the Foreign Exchange Markets. ABERCROMBIE & KENT
reserves the right to cancel any itinerary, or any part of it, to make such
alterations in the itinerary as it deems necessary or desirable, to refuse
to accept or retain as a member of any tour any person at any time, and to
pass on to tour members any expenditures or losses caused by delays or
events beyond its control.
Arrangements. Quoted tour prices
include planning, handling and operational charges, and are quoted on the
current rate of exchange and tariff as of September 2000. In the event of a
marked increase in foreign exchange or tariff rates, costs are subject to
revision. |
Smoking Policy
In keeping with 'Explorer's' conservationist principals and in response to
overwhelming passenger requests, smoking is not permitted in cabins or any
indoor passenger area of the ship. Smoking will be permitted only in
designated areas of the outer decks. |
