Pier Information. The ship is scheduled to
dock in Rhodes. The city center is about half a mile from the pier and
can be reached in10 minutes on foot. Taxis are generally available at
the pier. |
Shopping. Ceramics, lace tablecloths, rugs
and jewelry are tempting purchases. Most shops close during lunch from
2:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. |
Cuisine. Lamb, fish and seafood are main
staples of the local cuisine. Restaurants, tavernas, and sidewalk cafes
offer a wide assortment of dishes in every price category. Sample the
tasty moussaka and for dessert enjoy baklava, made from filo dough, nuts
and honey; excellent Greek wines will round out your meal. |

Sights
Mandraki Harbor. The harbor entrance is said to have once been
straddled by the gigantic bronze statue of the Colossus of Rhodes. Now
the harbor is flanked by stone columns topped by figures of a stag and a
hind, the town's heraldic animals.
Old Town - Medieval Quarter. Built
by the CrUSAders, the wall surrounding the Old Town is one of the
best-preserved in Europe.
Archaeological Museum. The 15th-century Hospital of the
Knights houses the Archaeological Museum. It contains interesting
exhibits of archaeological finds from all over Greece. An area off the
courtyard has an impressive collection of vases, including fine examples
of Rhodian ware.
Golf
Rhodian Golf Course is an 18 hole golf course designed by
Britain's eminent golf course architect Donald Harradine. This course is
located in Anfandou Bay, 18km from Rhodes town. It is a 72 par and an
overall 6,060 meters.
